Special thanks to Gabriel (SHA) and Jovy (SYD) for bringing in 2 newteams this year, and I look forward to seeing them again next year,alongside with Team DXB, led by Melvin. As this tournament is growingbigger over the past few years, I am happy to see our CX "basketballfamily" grow tighter and tighter. Wow...Its just amazing wat just happened in just three days of time...I really from bottom of my heart has to congratulate to Whole of YVR team for hosting a wonderfull and well organised and exciting tournament this year....Have to appreciate Jaan in taking a lot of energy and time to get the venue and everything organised for this wonderful Family getogether of fun and games. It was a great Oppurtunity for myself and my colleague to be a part of this Cathay Interport Basketball Tournament where we got to meet a lot of friends and a big family of cathay from all around the world. Also THANKING Jaan,Alex,Cedric for giving us a oppurtunity to play at the last moment of the Tournament where everything was already Arranged and no changes could be made but definetly tried to slip us in. It was great event in KUL this year again, and we do very appreciated your wonderful efforts together with YVR team supports.Am feeling we could enjoy this event as very successful one and we could expand our friendship among CX family. Frankly speaking, upon we have started this event with 4 teams (JPN/HKG/TPE/MNL), am never expected this interport basketball event has been become such big event inviting 10 teams. A special thanks to YVR for all their efforts (and a lesson in basketball) for arranging the event from across the globe and in different time zones! It was a big learning curve for us. We will be back next year with more players, more training and be bigger and stronger then this year. We have already begun our recruiting for KOREA 2009! This year TPE team very enjoy this tournament. Especially we like to thank our host YVR team, your guys from the million miles away between YVR and KUL to set-up this event . That is mission impossible !!! But you finished the event and make it so successful . We have deep feel yours kindly arrangement, such as souvenir, game win /loss/rank table, game schedule table for each day, MVP vote for each team, Gala dinner beer game.....etc. All of those make us easy , convenience , great honor , exercise to enjoy this game. From The Coronade Hotel to MABA
- By taxi - reasonable fare should be RM6.00 to RM10.00 but good luck for getting that. And be warned, traffic is very congested in KL city. It can be a short ride if you do not get stuck in the traffic but it could be a 30 minute ride during rush hours.
- By monorail - to KL Sentral direction, only two stops, get off at Hang Tuah Station a.k.a. PRUDENTIAL. Take Stadium Negara Exit (opposite exit to all the tall apartments). Walk down the street and follow the Grand Olympic Hotel sign. About 10 minutes walk, you should see MABA on your right hand side.

How to get there from KL airport?
- By taxi alone (about 75km) - If there are two of you to share the cab ride, this is a good option. Taxi fare runs from RM70.00 ~ RM.150.00 ( I know.....unbelievable! Negotiate is the word.)
- By KLIA Ekspres and taxi - KLIA Ekspres ticket counter is right after you cleared customs and before you pick up your luggage. One way fare is RM35.00 and there is no discount with round trip tickets. Express train ride to KL Sentral is about 28 minutes. Hail taxi outside KL Sentral. Do not go for taxi service counters as they provide premium service with a premium rate. Taxi fare to the hotel usually go from RM11.00 ~ RM15.00. So, before you get yourself into a taxi, you must agree on a price with the taxi driver!
- By KLIA Ekspres and monorail - there is a short walk from KL Sentral to monorail station. It costs only RM2.10 from KL Sentral to Bukit Bintang (DIGI) station. The only disadvantage I can see is you will have to haul your heavy luggage around a bit. Our hotel is right by the monorail station, Bukit Bintang, and next to department store Lot 10 - a green building.
Where is the monorail station?
- When you arrive at KL Sentral by KLIA Ekspres, instead of turning right at exit to catch a taxi, you go straight and follow Hilton/Meridien sign.
- You will see Subway and walk into a narrow walk way with many little shops. If you spot a big red sign "M" for McDonald, you are on the right track.
- At the end of the narrow walk way, it opens up and you will see more little shops and lots of people. Take a left and walk all the way out through glass sliding doors.
- Walk down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, you will get hassled by tour bus operators, or taxi drivers. But persevere and go through the human wall and take a left and cross the parking area where all the buses and taxis parked. Once you reached the other side, take a left again and walk towards the shops with white tents.
- At the end of these tents and you will see monorail sign on the other side of the street.
Catch monorail to The Coronade Hotel
- Purchase a value card as you will need it to for the next 3 days to travel back and forth from the hotel to MABA.
- Get off at Bukit Bintang Station a.k.a. DiGi (in yellow) - 5 stops, about 8 minutes from KL Sentral.
- Look for Lot 10 - a green building. Our hotel is right next to it.

Tournament Format
All FIBA rules apply with the following modifications:
Official FIBA rules
- Game length: 4 x 10 minute quarters, with 5 minute half time.
- Running time except for stopage in play (ie, free throws, injuries) and last 2 minutes of 4th quarter after a field goal (and OT if necessary).
- Each team will be allowed two 30 second timeouts per half (taken anytime) and one in OT (if necessary)
- Notes: approximately 5 to 10 minute warmups will be allocated prior to games; championship game will be stop time.
Format:
- 2 Pools: 5 teams in each pool (Round Robin play will be from days 1 and 2; Elimination play will be on day 3)
- Each team is guaranteed 5 games.
Upon completion of Round Robin:
- Each seed from each pool will play it's corresponding seed in the other pool (e.g. Pool A #5 seed will play Pool B #5 seed).
* Home team is first team listed and should have light colour uniforms; away teams dark colour uniforms
Miscellaneous:
- At the end of each game, each team will submit 2 players who they think are the most valuable players on the opposing team (for all-stars).
- All Star game scheduled for Day 3 after the championship game and awards ceremony.

- At the end of each game, each team will submit 2 players who they think are the most valuable players on the opposing team (for all-stars).
- All Star game scheduled for Day 3 after the championship game and awards ceremony.
Free Agency:
- Teams SEL, JPN, SYD, SHA will pick from a free agent pool of players provided by the other teams.
- Selection will be made at Captain's Meeting on June 12 (meet at hotel lobby at 8:30pm)
Eligibility of Players:
-This is an event for current AND ex-CX/KA staff. We understand that some teams may find it difficult to get enough team players among their staff; therefore, members from CX/KA subsidiary and/or associate companies, are allowed subject to the discretion of all team leaders. All players need to provide their CX/KA MemoID or related staff information for employees of other companies.
